After the resignation of CEO Andy Byron, who was caught on a "kiss cam" hugging HR chief Kristin Cabot at a Coldplay concert, Pete DeJoy took over the leadership of the company "Astronomer".
In a statement on LinkedIn, DeJoy acknowledged the unexpected effect that the scandal now dubbed "ColdplayGate" had on the company:
"This attention has been unusual and surreal for our team. I would not have wanted it to happen like this, but now Astronomer is a household name."
He emphasized the team's resilience and commitment to doing things "the right way," assuring customers that the company will not disappoint them.
Meanwhile, the viral moment where Byron and Cabot pulled away as soon as they saw each other on the giant screen has become an endless meme and has even been imitated by celebrities.
Chris Martin, the lead singer of Coldplay, joked about the incident at another concert, while the LinkedIn profiles of those involved have since been deleted that night.
