World champions Spain landed at Madrid-Barajas airport after returning from their victorious expedition to the 2026 World Cup.

The Spanish national team arrived at the Zarzuela Palace, the royal residence, for a reception following their World Cup victory. King Felipe congratulated the players and said it was an epic victory.
"It was an epic victory. It was a privilege and a pleasure to see you play in the final and to be able to celebrate with you that moment when you lifted the trophy, with great gratitude from all of Spain. After 16 years, thanks to you, Spain is world champion again. You have suffered, you are coming back a little tired and exhausted, you have received some criticism, but what is all this compared to the joy of bringing home the trophy?" he said.
