Jennifer Lopez is expected to be called as a witness in the upcoming trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs, as prosecutors seek to include the 1999 incident at a Manhattan nightclub where the two were present. The incident took place on December 27, 1999, at Club New York, where a gunfight left three people injured, including Natania Reuben, who was shot in the face.
Lopez and Diddy were arrested that night, but Lopez was later released without charge, while Diddy was found not guilty in a criminal trial. However, prosecutors now argue that the incident shows a pattern of violent behavior on Diddy's part, a claim his lawyers strongly dispute.
Diddy's lawyers are seeking to exclude any reference to the 1999 incident from the trial, calling it irrelevant to the current case. They are also objecting to the inclusion of a 2016 video allegedly showing Diddy assaulting singer Cassie Ventura, calling it doctored and inauthentic.
Diddy's trial, which includes charges of sex trafficking and criminal conspiracy, is expected to begin on May 12, with jury selection a week earlier.
