Amazing! The polyglot twins speak 26 languages, one of which they created

Identical twins Matthew and Michael Youlden can each speak 26 languages, one of which is not even in the etymology.

Inspired by the cultural landscape in Manchester, UK, the polyglot brothers now have their own foreign language company, an interest in which started at a very early age.

But their first language, Umer, was invented by themselves. "Umar was never simply one for secret communication. It has sentimental value for us, as it shows the strong bond we have as identical twins."

The brothers do not remember what their life was like before the Umer language, recalling the time when they were in pre-school education and the teachers were surprised when they joked with them in their 'secret' language.

Spanish was the third language they learned on a family vacation when they were 8 years old, followed by Italian and Scandinavian languages, while simultaneously studying and developing the grammatical structure for their language.

According to the BBC, 30-50% of twins develop a unique form of communication known as cryptophasia.

"Twins have their own language that at some point they stop using because they're ashamed," Matthew said. When he and Michael communicated in umeri, family and friends said: "They started again with their language."

The twins standardized and codified the language. At one point, they even tried to create the alphabet, but when they got the first computer, they realized that it wouldn't work because there was no Umer type of writing. Now the language is written using the Latin alphabet.

They did not intend to inherit this language, but continued to develop it for themselves.

"It's one of those things that unfortunately has an expiration date," concludes Michael.
