The daughter and son of Albanian-Italian singer Ana Oxa have been sworn in as Albanian citizens. The Albanian singer herself accompanied her two children, Qazim Belleno and Francesca Belleno, but singer-songwriter Ardit Gjebrea was also seen alongside them.
They were sworn in today before the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, as the youngest citizens of the Republic.
"I am very happy that Ana has insisted that her two children obtain Albanian citizenship and it reminds me of that old time, when many of us left Albanian citizenship to obtain a foreign citizenship. Times have changed, so today I am very happy that we have two new citizens and two new citizens of Tirana. Much success and many congratulations," Veliaj emphasized.
While the artist has expressed that despite everything, she has roots here, in her country.
"I have always been Albanian. The completion of this process was enough to bring my children and I think it is a very important moment for me, because beyond what a passport can mean, it has a deeper meaning. It is a tribute to the life, history and heritage of a people through my father." - declared Anna Oxa.
Meanwhile, his daughter, Francesca, said that one of the things she has always appreciated about Albania is the kindness of the Albanian people and the strong connection to the country.
"I was in my grandfather's land. For me, it was an experience that remained in my heart, a very important thing that I always find in every Albanian I meet: kindness, love for people, for the country, especially for values," she declared.
While the singer's son, Qazim Belleno, after the oath, expressed that he is surprised by the development that Albania has undergone, finding a totally changed Tirana.
"I was here a few years ago and when I came these days, I was surprised by the development that Albania has undergone. I found a totally changed city," he declared.
Italian singer, actress, and television presenter Ana Oxa obtained Albanian citizenship in 2020. Ana was born in Bari on April 28, 1961, to an Italian mother and Albanian father, Qazim Hoxha.
