Prince Harry's stay in London has been marred by a stalker scare. According to The Telegraph, an unidentified woman, who is suspected of having mental health issues, got very close to the Duke on two separate occasions during his visit.
The first incident occurred on September 9, during the WellChild Awards ceremony at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, where the woman managed to sneak into a “safe area” and get close to the Duke. The following day, she was photographed again next to him during Harry’s visit to the Centre for Blast Wound Studies in west London.
A spokesperson for the Duke confirmed to PEOPLE that they do not comment on security matters. The woman is said to have a history of stalking Harry and Meghan Markle, following them as far away as Nigeria last year.
A security source told PEOPLE that these types of incidents are common for members of the royal family, but this case was concerning because there was no police presence or close protection. Two employees from Harry’s private office intervened to prevent the woman from getting any closer.
According to the source, this situation reflects a continuing risk to the Duke's security, emphasizing that relying on "luck" is not a long-term solution for his protection.
