Ugandan chef Dorcus Mirembe, popularly known as Mama D, has broken the Guinness World Record by beating an Irishman by cooking for over 120 hours. She started her cooking journey on December 23rd and is trying to continue until December 31st. The individual record for the longest cookout was held by Irish chef Alan Fisher, who set it in Japan earlier this year.
Mama D's actual cooking time so far is over 123 hours. Government officials, business people and celebrities have expressed support for him by sending messages through various social media platforms. Various food companies have provided her with cooking supplies and other items. She told Anadolu that during her challenge, she is cooking food from all over Uganda and is offering all the cooked food for free.
All food is free, it is people like this who give us strength to go forward. All it takes is an appetite, that's all. Who eats, encourages me. Uganda is endowed with an abundance of traditional foods and I want to introduce them to the world, to be an ambassador for the wonderful and diverse cuisines of Uganda, the pearl of Africa.
