King Charles is likely to be alone on some royal engagements after Queen Camilla has fallen ill, according to Buckingham Palace. In a statement to the media, the palace reported that Camilla is currently ill with a chest infection and is planning to take a week off from her royal duties.
To the media, the palace revealed that Camilla had been advised to remain on bed rest on doctors' orders.
"Her Majesty the Queen is currently unwell as she has a chest infection for which doctors have advised a short period of rest," the royal palace wrote.
As well as missing the year's inaugural commemorative event, Queen Camilla will also no longer be present when King Charles welcomes Team Great Britain medalists from the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games to Buckingham Palace on November 7.
Meanwhile, King Charles is being treated for an undisclosed form of cancer and postponed public engagements in February, before resuming public events in April.
