Four years after the end of the Peaky Blinders series, Tommy Shelby's story continues in a feature film called Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man. Netflix has released the first trailer that hints at a dark and war-torn continuation of the Shelby family saga.
The film will premiere in select theaters on March 6, 2026, while its arrival on Netflix is scheduled for March 20 of the same year.
At the center of the film is again Tommy Shelby, played by Cillian Murphy. Although the end of the series suggested a final farewell to the character, Murphy emphasizes that Tommy Shelby's story has not yet been told.
" It seems Tommy Shelby isn't done with me yet. It's a great pleasure to work with Steven Knight and Tom Harper again on a film version of Peaky Blinders. This is a film for the fans ," Murphy told Netflix's Tudum.
The script was written by the series' creator, Stephen Knight, while the direction was taken by Tom Harper, who has already directed several important episodes of the series, as well as the films Wild Rose and Heart of Stone.
The events take place during the war of 1940.
Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man is set in 1940s Birmingham, at the height of World War II. After a self-imposed exile, Tommy Shelby is forced to return to face the most devastating confrontation of his life.
As the future of the Shelby family and the fate of the country hang in the balance, Tommy must confront his demons and decide whether to embrace his legacy or burn it forever. The war affects not only Europe, but the Shelby family as well.
Steven Knight emphasizes that the context of war is key to the new sequel: " The country is at war, and so is Peaky Blinders. This will be an explosive chapter of the story. No holds barred. Peaky Blinders in a war environment."
Impressive cast
Starring Cillian Murphy, the film brings together a strong mix of returning and new faces. The cast includes Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, Sophie Randle, Ned Dennehy, Packy Lee, Ian Peck, Jay Licurgo, Barry Keoghan and Stephen Graham.
Netflix has already released the first photos from the film featuring Murphy, Ferguson, and Keoghan, which has piqued the audience's interest even more.
Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man was created in collaboration with BBC Films and was conceived as a sequel that concludes the story begun in the series. It is apparently a darker, war-torn chapter that confronts Tommy Shelby with his most difficult moral and personal decisions to date. The film arrives on Netflix on March 20, 2026.
