Crown Prince Leka Zogu II has been at the center of the media in recent months, not for his title or as part of the Albanian kingdom, but for his personal life.
For the first time after the scandal that was made public, a video of a fight between him and his ex-wife Elia Zaharia, Prince Leka has spoken publicly about his divorce. In the interview given to journalist Arbana Osmani on the show 'Mirembrëma Yje', Leka was accompanied by his partner, photographer Blerta Celibashi.
The latter, for the public, was the main reason that led to Elias and Leka's divorce.
Leka Zoku has explained that his marital relationship with Elia Zaharia had ended long before his father began his love story with Blerta, who was also a photographer for the royal family.
He says that the first person to be made aware of this report was Elia herself.
"We had a correct relationship. The separation came with different phases, there was that emotional phase, the distancing, we lived in a house, but distanced, I stayed alone with the girl, but we had no contact, not even physical. From time to time we were for the media, photos, a beautiful postcard, but completely fake. It was the legal phase.
With all these stresses, Blerta has also been a victim of all the attacks, narratives that were not real. There was no betrayal. The first person I informed about my relationship with Blerta was Elia. I told Elias before hugging Blerta that I had met Blerta," said Prince Leka.
Meanwhile, Leka could not pass without saying something about the video filmed by the Prince himself, which broadcast a moment of conflict between him and Elias. Prince Leka has stated that he has been betrayed by state institutions, as they were the ones who published the video in the media.
"I admit that I was wrong, I should never have given the video, kept it for trial because it was a direct blow. We experienced an attack. It was a media attack, a legal attack... Then how the footage was handled and made public, I felt betrayed by those who published it," he said.
Blerta Celibashi has also clarified the rumors circulating regarding her position in this story. The photographer has categorically denied having had a social relationship with Elia Zaharia.
"I have categorically never been friends with Elia. I know that this is one of those elements that make the soap opera the most interesting, but it is very abusive that they have slandered her to this point. This is my truth ," said Blerta Celibashi.
