Renowned Albanian actor Robert Ndrenika has reacted publicly regarding his recent meeting with the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, revealing details from their early relationship.
In a telephone call for the show Albania Live , Ndrenika said that her friendship with Veliaj dates back to when the latter was still a student at the 7-year school.
"I have been friends with Veliaj since he was a 7th grader. I felt like he was my adopted son, I loved him. We haven't had much contact lately, but I've gone to him for coffee sometimes. He loved me and I loved him," the actor said.
Ndrenika also commented on the early debate about the demolition of the old National Theater building, emphasizing that artists had been seeking a new theater for years.
According to him, the previous building was in a degraded state, while the clashes over its demolition turned more into a political debate between the Democratic Party and the Socialist Party .
"That building that housed us for 50 years was a ruin. The conflict over the demolition was mostly a political debate between the DP and the SP," said Ndrenika, adding that many fellow artists have supported him for his stance.
