A ferry company has apologised to passengers after an incident in which children started screaming when a pornographic film was shown on one of its ship's televisions.
DFDS expressed its "deep regret" for the incident that occurred on the ship sailing from France to Sussex.
The "adult film" was accidentally broadcast on the lounge TV, where passengers were watching a Formula 1 race, exposing children to "hardcore pornography."
A company spokesman said the incident occurred during a delay when the ship returned to France due to a technical problem at the port of Newhaven. Passengers then asked to watch the F1 race in the lounge area and suddenly, after the race had finished, the pornographic film was shown.
DFDS stated that the team was unaware that the film would be broadcast and as soon as it was announced, immediately changed the channel.
The company removed the channel from the list of stations available on the ship and assured that the incident would not be repeated, apologizing for the inevitable irritation and anger caused.
In a statement to local newspaper the Argus in Brighton, a passenger described the incident as "a bit crazy".
As he recounted, suddenly children began running and screaming inside the ship, with parents asking staff to rectify the situation, saying that "rough pornography is being shown on television."
