Chinese scientists are working to develop a revolutionary therapy that could extend human life to 150 years. The breakthrough relies on a specific grape seed component, PCC1, which in laboratory tests on mice destroyed senescent cells, extending their lifespan by more than 9%. The results have sparked excitement in the scientific community, as senescent cells are one of the main reasons for organ failure and the development of age-related diseases.
Experts call this technology a “holy grail” in the quest to combat aging. The Chinese team is currently adapting the therapy for use in humans, in the hope that the effects of PCC1 could reduce cellular aging and extend healthy human lifespans.
However, scientists warn that it is still too early to draw conclusions in humans and more years of clinical trials will be needed to assess its safety and effectiveness. If this experiment is successful in humans, it could fundamentally change the meaning of longevity and health in old age, opening up new opportunities for health services, the economy and people's lifestyles in the coming decades.
