The event a day ago when the Italian skier Matilde Lorenzi lost her life while skiing, has caught the attention of the entire sports world, not only the protagonists and actors of this sport.
Together with the 19-year-old Lorenzi, the Albanian skier, Deni Xhepa, has grown up and started skiing. Born, raised and trained professionally in Italy, Xhepa tells "Top Channel" his grave condition after the news that his childhood friend and skiing colleague, Matilde Lorenzi, died while training in an area of the Italian Alps in Bolzano.
" I'm not well at all! Mati and I grew up together, trained together and spent a lot of time with each other. We were even in the same school. Such situations sometimes remind us how dangerous what we do is, but sometimes the passion and the everyday make you forget. It is very difficult for me to speak more, I am torn ," said Xhepa.
The entire sports and political community in the Apennine peninsula reacted to this Italian sports tragedy, as Matilde Lorenzi was part of the Italian national ski team, part of the sports club of the Ministry of Defense and one of the promising talents of this sport.
