Behind one of the most iconic families in the world of Formula 1, lies a personal story that goes beyond the racetrack and sporting successes.
In the documentary "Horsepower: The World of Gina Schumacher", Gina Schumacher, daughter of Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher, shares publicly for the first time her personal journey, deeply influenced by her father's serious accident in 2013 and the subsequent changes in her family's life.
Gina says that after the event, she felt the need to focus on a strong passion that had accompanied her for a long time. “ I needed to do something ,” she says in the documentary. “ After my father’s accident, I devoted myself completely to this, because I couldn’t live without horses. They helped me overcome everything .”
Her connection with horses began years ago during a family trip to Dubai, where the Shumakers were introduced to the Quarter Horse breed, known for their calm and cooperative nature.
The documentary also features Corinna Schumacher, Michael Schumacher's wife, who recalls a significant moment from the past. According to her, Michael had predicted their daughter's potential in equestrian sports: "Michael told me: ' Gina will be much better than you. Because she is more selfish. As an athlete, you have to be like that in a way. And that is a positive thing .'"
Since his skiing accident in Méribel, France in 2013, Michael Schumacher's health has remained unknown to the public. The family has chosen to keep this information private, maintaining complete discretion for one of the greatest figures in motorsport.
