Atalanta gets the first victory in the Champions League this season of the new format and aspires to go to the next round with direct elimination.
The Italian team led by Gasperini won 0-3 in the transfer with Shaktar Donetsk, where the Red National football player, Berat Gjimshit, left his mark.
Not only a leader in defense, but also a scorer. The footballer from Presheva showed his goal instinct in the development of a free kick in the 21st minute and after lowering the ball with his chest, it was not difficult to send it into the net.
When on January 18, 2016, Berat Gjimshiti signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Serie A side Atalanta, taking the number 55 for the second half of the 2015–2016 season, he never thought he would reach the point of became a leader and irreplaceable and also one of the strongest points of the Bergamo team, as well as the captain of the Albanian national team!
Berati, who moved from Zurich to Bergamo, made his debut on 3 May 2016 against Napoli in a 2–1 loss. But it was not a field of flowers. In fact, on 31 August 2016, Gjimshiti was loaned to Serie B side Avelino to gain more playing time.
And from there came another loan, when on July 8, 2017, the defender was transferred on loan to the newly promoted team in Serie A, Benevento, until the end of the season, with an option to buy.
Benevento did not exercise the right to buy and Gjimšiti returned to Atalanta ahead of the 2018–19 season, playing his first match on 20 August in a 4–0 win against Frosinone.
He scored his first goal for Atalanta on 11 November 2018, netting his side's third goal in a 4–1 home win over Inter, which ended the away team's six-match winning streak. Since returning from two loan spells, Gjimmshiti has established himself as a key defender under Xhan Piero Gasperini.
On 17 February 2022, Gjimshiti scored a brace in the 2021–22 UEFA Europa League knockout round play-off first leg against Olympiakos, which Atalanta won 2–1.
But his great glory came with winning the Europa League last season, in the final against Çabi Alonso's Leverkusen. From there, the first participation in a European championship with Albania, an opportunity that he lost in 2016 not because of his fault, but because of the list chosen by De Biazsi.
So, tonight came another joy, his first time scoring in the Champions League. He did it as a zone bomber, according to Shaktar Donetsk. His first time was followed by Lukman's first time in the Champions League.
Shortly before the end of the first half, Atalanta scored the second goal with Lukman. Belanova scored the goal that sealed the final score 0-3 as soon as the second half started.
With this victory, Atalanta goes to the quota of four points, while the Ukrainian team remains with one point.
A match with pace and emotions was the one between Girona and Feyenoord. This meeting ended 2-3 in favor of the Dutch.
