Bosnia and Herzegovina has officially secured qualification for the knockout stage of the 2026 World Cup, becoming the first team to advance from third place in the group.
The Bosnian team finished third in Group B after a 3-1 win over Qatar, collecting four points in the group stage. This balance proved sufficient to place them among the eight best third-place teams that secure participation in the 32-team round.
Although there are still a few games left in the other groups, the results so far have mathematically confirmed Bosnia's qualification. They currently lead the standings of third-place teams that have secured passage to the next stage.
Under the new 2026 World Cup format, the eight best third-placed teams in their groups advance to the knockout stage, where they will face the group winners.
