"I had a dream to play in Kosovo", Shaqiri says openly, Muriqi

Xherdan Shaqiri experienced emotions in the Kosovo-Switzerland match (2-2), which was played at the "Fadil Vokrri" stadium in Pristina. The well-known Albanian striker, who has been competing for years with the national team, made a dedication on social networks to Fadil Vokrri.

One of the best Albanian footballers in history and the former president of the Kosovo Football Federation, passed away in June 2018 at the age of 57. Vokrri dreamed of seeing the attacker from Gjilan in the Kosovo jersey.

Shaqiri has posted on his page a photo next to the portrait of the legend, as there is no missing a heart inside it. The two had a very good relationship, as the 31-year-old pointed out for "SuperSport" after the match in the capital "Dardan".

"I had a dream to play in Kosovo", Shaqiri says openly, Muriqi

" It was a great honor to be here, playing in the 'Fadil Vokrri' stadium. I had a very good relationship with the former president. I was born in Kosovo, I feel the anthem of Kosovo and I am honored to have played in the stadium named after the Legend.

I dreamed of playing here. People know that I had contacts with the Federation and with Fadil, we had contacts. It was Euro 2016 and we could no longer change the team …”

The attacker, Vedat Muriqi, commented on the recent events in Bucharest during the qualifying match for "EURO 2024" between Romania and Kosovo. The fans in the "Arena Nacional" began to shout in chorus: "Serbia, Serbia".

In addition, a banner with the colors of the Serbian flag with the text "Kosova is Serbia" was placed on the tribune behind the gate.

Muriqi, who with two goals brought Kosovo a point in the duel with Switzerland, has reversed the events in Bucharest and made a strong statement.

" People forget that we are all human and one day we will all die. Why don't we all live in peace? Why do they bring politics to football? "Football brings us together, it makes us all enjoy it and they go and put up those banners, but at the end of the day people say whatever they want, we can't stop them," Muriqi said
