The Football Federation of North Macedonia (FFMV) has imposed strict disciplinary measures against Shkëndija e Tetovo following the events recorded in the North Macedonian Cup final. The Tetovo club has been excluded from participating in the next edition of the Cup and has been fined a total of 105 thousand euros.
The decision was made despite explanations given by Shkëndija's management, who had stated that the players had not heard the call to appear at the medal ceremony. However, the disciplinary bodies of the FFMV have assessed that serious violations of the competition regulations have been committed.
According to the official decision, the club has been fined 15,000 euros for the use of pyrotechnic devices by fans in the stands. Another sanction of 10,000 euros has been imposed for chants and slogans that the organizers have deemed inappropriate.
Also, a banner, which football authorities have deemed to have Nazi content, has resulted in an additional fine of 20,000 euros.
The most serious punishment is related to the refusal to receive medals after the end of the final. For this violation, Shkëndija was fined 30 thousand euros and was excluded from participating in the Cup next season. According to the Federation's reasoning, this action was disrespectful to the match officials and the opposing team.
Meanwhile, the club has been fined another 30,000 euros, as well as four matches without fans, for incidents related to the national anthem ceremony. The official report states that the North Macedonian anthem was not respected, while the Albanian anthem was sung from the stands.
Shkëndija has not yet announced whether it will appeal the decision of the disciplinary bodies of the Football Federation of North Macedonia.
