The German Football Association (DFB) and Adidas have unveiled the new jersey for the "Pants" national team at the 2026 World Cup. It has a retro look.
Frankfurt – In addition to the sporting aspects before a major tournament, many football fans always wonder which jersey their team will wear. For the German national team, it is now clear what the jersey will look like for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico (June 11 - July 19, 2026). On Wednesday, November 5, the DFB and uniform supplier Adidas revealed the design.
After a very modern kit for the 2024 European Championship, where Germany hosted the competition, Adidas is taking a trip down memory lane with a retro look. The traditionally white home kit features the colours of the national flag in a distinctive V-shape across the chest. The design is reminiscent of the 1990 World Cup kit, which also featured three black, red and gold stripes across the chest. At the time, Germany were crowned world champions with a 1-0 win over Italy - a good omen?
Adidas releases new German national team jersey - inspired by 1994
According to Adidas, the 1994 jersey, when the USA last hosted a World Cup, served as inspiration. Just like back then, the shorts will be red and the socks white. Nick Waltmead, who designed the uniform, is thrilled: "I've rarely seen a more beautiful jersey than our new Adidas home jersey. I love the look of it; it's so great. I think it's world-class and I can't wait to play in it soon."
Waltmead and his teammates will wear the new jersey for the first time in the match against Luxembourg on November 14 and Slovakia, 3 days later. Fans will also cheer on their team in the new uniform. The jersey will be available in all Adidas stores and online from November 6. The jersey costs 100 euros (children: 75 euros), while the player version costs 150 euros.
Incidentally, this will be the last jersey with three stripes. The 10-year partnership with Adidas ends on December 31, 2026, and Nike will take over as the official uniform supplier for the German national teams for at least the next seven years./ “ Fr.de ”, adapted in Albanian, “Pamfleti”
