The Prosecutor's Office of Trento has reopened the investigation into the case of Marco Pantani, related to the Tour of Italy 1999. The new file, which has been entrusted to the prosecutor Patricia Foiero, is about the hypothesis, as it emerged from the sessions of the Antimafia Commission, for amounts of large clandestine bets linked to the Camorra mafia, where the aim was to avoid the final victory by Pantani.
The first to speak about this issue was Renato Valanzaska from "Bollate" prison, heard as a person informed about the facts, confessing shocking facts to the prosecutor.
" If Pantani won the Giro d'Italia, it would be a disaster, as the Camorra would have to pay several billion in clandestine bets and risk bankruptcy ", initially reported an associate of justice in the Anti-Mafia Commission during the investigation into Pantani's death.
