Albanian champions Egnatia begin their European adventure for the 2025-2026 season against Iceland's Breidablik. This clash with the Icelandic champions is valid for the first qualifying round of the Champions League.
UEFA has recently decided the referees who will judge Egnatia in the two matches of the first round of the Champions League. In the first match, Egnatia-Breidablik, which will be played on July 8 at 21:00 at the “Arena Egnatia” stadium, justice will be decided by a trio of referees from Bosnia and Herzegovina. The main referee of this match is 35-year-old Antoni Bandić, who will be helped by assistants Amir Kadić and Nebojša Žugić. The fourth referee is Antonio Tomic, while Nihad Ljajić is in charge of VAR.
All five referees are Bosnians. It is worth noting that the main referee, Antoni Bandić, does not have much experience in international refereeing, but is considered a promising referee. The situation is different in the return match, Breidablik-Egnatia, which will be played on July 15 at 21:00 in Iceland, where justice will be administered by a judging panel from Scotland.
The referee of this match is 45-year-old David Dickinson, who is a civil engineer by profession and has experience in the international arena as a referee. His two assistants in this match are Francis Connor and Jonathan Bell. The fourth referee is Lloyd Wilson. Another Scot, Kevin Clancy, is on VAR. Both main referees have, for the first time in their careers, judged an Albanian team.
