Former Barcelona and Bayern star suffers from mental health issues, 33-year-old

Philippe Coutinho has officially announced the end of his contract with Brazilian club Vasco da Gama, confirming his departure from the team for reasons related to his mental health.

The 33-year-old midfielder, who returned to Vasco after a long career in Europe with well-known clubs such as Liverpool, Barcelona and Bayern Munich, stated that the decision was made after a difficult personal and professional period.

In a post on Instagram, Coutinho said he felt "very mentally tired" and was unable to return to the pitch to continue his contribution, prioritizing his personal well-being. He also cited criticism from fans in recent matches as part of the difficult period he has been going through.

During his final spell with Vasco da Gama, Coutinho made 81 appearances and scored 17 goals. Despite his departure, he stressed that he will always keep his connection with the club and its fans close to his heart.

Coutinho began his professional career at Vasco da Gama before moving to Europe, where he played for some of the biggest clubs. With the end of his contract, he is now a free agent and can consider new options for the rest of his career.
