In Germany, the authorities are on alert for possible attacks during the upcoming European Championship. In particular, there is concern about the threat posed by possible attacks by so-called 'lone wolves', individual perpetrators who become radicalized and, according to experts, are difficult to detect because they leave no traces. Last week, the ISIS propaganda channel Sarh al-Khilafah published a threat before the match between Bayern and Borussia Dortmund.
The case was not classified as a 'specific threat', but security authorities were alerted, especially in view of the European Championships at home, scheduled from June 14 to July 14. According to Bild, after this threat there was an exchange of information between national authorities and foreign secret services.
"The aim is to find out if a terrorist cell is going to Germany," a police official told the German newspaper. Attention was focused above all on 'lone wolves'. "Such a person may feel inspired to carry out a terrorist attack by a propaganda call," an expert noted. In order to accurately assess the threats and take the necessary measures, Bild reports, the German authorities also count on the help of intelligence services and foreign security authorities, such as the FBI.
EURO 2024 will take place in ten German cities from June 14 to July 14, 2024.
The opening match will be played at the "Fussball Arena" in Munich, while the grand final will be played at the "Olympiastadion" in Berlin. For the first time, durability has been included as a criterion in the tournament rules.
The European Championship 'Euro 2024' will start with the Germany-Scotland match on June 14. While throwing the goggles, luck was not on Albania's side, as among the 3 teams we will face, there are also 2 former world champions such as Spain, Italy and Croatia, which was the runner-up team in the 2018 World Cup.
Albania will play its first match against Italy on June 15 at the "Dortmund" stadium, while on June 19 it will face Croatia at the "Hamburg" stadium. The last match of the group will be against Spain, which will be played on June 24 at the "Düsseldorf Arena" stadium.
