The prestigious Swiss newspaper "Tribune de Gèneve" has published an article by the well-known journalist Nefail Maliqi, the editor of the Swiss newspaper in Albanian "Le Canton27.ch" who has been living and working in this country for years, with the title: "For a Future Switzerland with Shaqira... (Pour une Suisse avec de futurs Shaqiri).
In this article, Maliqi asked: "Why would Switzerland be afraid of a population increase of about 10 million? After two decades this country will have many "Xhaka" and "Shaqiri". Pride or concern? We let you choose..”

In 1800, our planet had nearly a billion human beings, as many as China today. As of last year, this figure is officially over 8 billion. In Europe, the population growth is decreasing, while in Switzerland it is increasing! Why our country fears 10 million people, while some countries and people fear extinction (see “Limiting immigration to save Switzerland, really?” in the April 4 Tribune de Genève).
According to the UN, the democratic changes that have affected more than 60 countries of the world are worrying. In these countries, the population will continue to decline until 2050. Some peoples are even at risk of extinction. Some countries are expected to see their demographics decline by around 15% during the same period, especially some Balkan countries. Some countries have other problems. In addition to low birth rates, these countries also face frequent mortality, exodus, suicide and murder. All this has changed the demographic map.
One of these countries is Albania. After population decline, this small Balkan country has seen a continuous mass exodus of its citizens, especially young people fleeing their corruption-ridden country. Switzerland with 10 million inhabitants and half a million Albanians, pride or concern?
In Geneva and Bern, according to the statements received by the Swiss newspaper in Albanian "Le Canton27.ch", some Swiss leaders or politicians often claim that they are proud of foreigners, for this multicultural diversity that gives a good image not only of Geneva in international level, but also throughout Switzerland.
About 66,000 Ukrainians are registered in Switzerland who fled Ukraine after the Russian invasion. Before the Ukrainians, we also have the Kosovars, who were also victims of deportation before and during the Kosovo war by the Serbian regime. Switzerland opened its doors to welcome about 60,000 Kosovars and currently has about 300,000 Albanian speakers.
According to international reports, during the last two decades, Albania has seen 1,400,000 of its citizens leave! This figure would already be very important for a country the size of China, what can we say about the smallest country in Europe, Albania! If Switzerland despairs that it may have 10 million inhabitants because of foreigners, what can we say about Albania, the smallest and poorest country in Europe, which will receive in a few days 40 thousand African refugees as a "gift" from Italy!
So why would Switzerland fear a population increase of around 10 million? After two decades this country will have many "Xhaka" and "Shaqiri". Pride or concern? We let you choose…/ LeCanton27
