World Cup qualifiers/ Norway "squeezes" Israel and increases pressure

Norway have won their sixth consecutive World Cup qualifier in Group I, after defeating Israel 5-0 in Oslo. The Norwegians, led by Stale Solbakken, are very close to directly qualifying for the World Cup, as they still have two more matches to play, one at home against Estonia and the "final" away against Italy.

As for today's match, in the first minutes an unusual episode occurred, starring Erling Haaland. In the 4th minute, Erling Haaland missed a penalty. The Norwegian striker shot with his left foot, but it was stopped by the Israeli goalkeeper.

The referee intervened and the penalty had to be retaken after the opposing goalkeeper stepped off the line. Surprisingly, Haaland missed his second penalty within a minute. This time, Haaland shot wide from the first attempt, but goalkeeper Perec saved the penalty for the second time.

However, it wasn't long before Norway not only found the net, but scored three times in 10 minutes, thanks to two own goals in the 18th and 28th minutes and Haaland's goal in the 27th minute. The first half ended 3-0 for the home team. In the second half, Haaland completed his hat-trick by scoring two more times in the 63rd and 72nd minutes. This victory for Norway increases the pressure on Italy, who play away to Estonia in the evening and are no longer allowed to make any mistakes.

In the other match played in Budapest for Group F, Hungary got the first victory for these qualifiers after defeating Armenia 2-0. The goals for the Hungarians were scored by Daniel Lukas in the 56th minute and Zombor Gruber in the 90+4th minute. Hungary holds the second place with 4 points, behind the first place Portugal with 6 points. Armenia is third with 3 points and finally Ireland with 1 point.
