For the third time in a row, Kukësi failed to secure participation in the European Cups. A failure that can be considered tragic for the northeastern club, which is already facing a devastating market.
In these first days, Kukësi has suffered a terrible exodus, where 16 players have already confirmed their divorce. So far, only 4 footballers have survived the "Broom" operation, who can be considered as the base of the team in the new season. It is about Angjelo Tafa and Mbarak who have a contract until 2025 and Atdhe Rashiti and Lamçe who have signed until 2026 with Kukës.
The survivors - If the departure of the "senators" happened almost as a block, as both sides did not agree on the continuation of the cooperation, there are still four more players in Kukës, for whom it is not known how the future will continue. It is about footballers who have been an important part of the formation and who have a long-term contract. Goalkeeper Angelo Tafas and midfielder Abdou Mbarak are tied to the club until the summer of 2025, effectively two more seasons. While striker Atdhe Rashiti and defender Franko Lamçe have contracts for three more seasons, until 2026.
Practically, these players cannot leave without the permission of the club, and on the other hand, the club cannot leave them without an agreement, because it is the contract that keeps them bound. Their future remains to be clarified in the future, whether they will join the group of those who left or exactly from this axis the Kukësi of the future will be rebuilt. It will all depend on the club's finances, as it is understood that in the last three seasons, the North-Easterners have spent endlessly and the non-participation in the European Cups has created a financial "pit".
Although these four footballers were not among the highest paid in the Kukës club, they still have a financial cost that can burden the club's coffers. At the moment, the players are following their holidays and there is still no talk of any meeting with the managers to negotiate the terms of the contract, but it is certainly an issue that is expected to be clarified in the coming days. Perhaps, even this foursome will have the fate of the others left from the Kukës team.
