Lamine Yamal continues to attract attention not only with his performances on the pitch, but also off it. The young Barcelona talent is part of the new promotional spot for the 30th anniversary of the legendary Pokémon series, a campaign that brings together famous figures from sports and music.
Yamal, known as an anime fan who grew up with the Pokémon series, participates in this campaign alongside big names such as singer Lady Gaga, Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc and Jisoo from the group Blackpink. The central question of the video is simple: "What is your favorite Pokémon?".
The Spanish forward chose not to go for the more common alternatives like Pikachu, but showed more in-depth knowledge, citing Zygarde as his favorite. Yamal explained the choice in football terms, saying he likes it for its strength and the many ways it has to get past opponents — a description that fits his style of play on the pitch.
The participation in this campaign comes at a very positive moment for Yamal, who is having an exceptional season with Barcelona. In the 2025/26 edition, he has become one of the leaders of the Catalan team, with 15 goals and 13 assists in 30 matches in all competitions, confirming his status as one of the most promising talents in European football.
