The Albanian skier Lara Kolturi was ranked second in the women's slalom race, held today at the Austrian Gurgl track. This is the best result in the career of the 18-year-old Albanian skier, who manages to climb the podium of a World Cup race for the first time.
75 contestants participated in this competition and Kolturi made an outstanding appearance, ranking only behind an icon like Mikaela Shifrin. After two descents, Kolturi gave a total time of 1'40"77, only 55 thousandths behind the American Shifrin (1'40'22), who won this race.
After the first descent, Kolturi gave a time of 51"69, ranking in fourth place, while in the second descent he achieved a time of 49"08, recovering two positions and ending the race in second place. A historic result for Kolturi and for Albanian sport, which has never reached such levels.
This was the third seasonal competition for the young Albanian skier (Italian but with Albanian citizenship), who is in her third year competing in the World Cup. Her performances have been improving from season to season and now comes this long-awaited and well-deserved podium, accumulating important points
