Lara Kolturi starts 2026 in Alpine Skiing with a sixth place in the Giant Slalom in Kranjska Gora, a discipline that is not her specialty, closing her competition at the end of both descents with a total time of 2 minutes 1 second and 17 hundredths.
The 19-year-old athlete made an excellent performance in the first downhill in the Giant Slalom at the next stop of the World Cup in Kranjska Gora, as she ranked third. Kolturi had a very good race in this downhill, covering the track with a time of 1 minute 1 second and 75 thousandths, 37 hundredths more than the winner of this downhill, Camille Rast, while the second place was the American Paula Moltzan. Lara Kolturi in this downhill left behind names such as Mikaela Shiffrin, leader of the classification in this edition of the Alpine Skiing World Cup, Julia Sheib or Sara Hektor.
Meanwhile, in the second downhill, Lara Kolturi covered the track with a time of 59.42 seconds, ranking 10th for this downhill, while the total time ultimately placed her in sixth place. The giant slalom race at the end of the two downhills was won by Kamila Rast, followed in second and third place by Julia Sheib and Paula Moltcan, while Mikaela Shifrin closed the competition in 5th place with a time only 3 hundredths faster than Kolturi.
Sixth place in the Kranjska Gora race gives Lara Kolturi 40 points with the 19-year-old moving up to 402 points in the overall World Cup standings, moving up to 6th place, while Mikaela Shiffrin continues to lead with 743 points, followed by Kamila Rast in second place with 603 points, while in third place is Alice Robinson with 484. This Sunday in Kranjska Gora, Lara Kolturi will compete again, but this time in the special slalom discipline.
