Luiza Gega continues to impress in international competitions, following a several-year streak of excellent results.
The most recent success for Gega came from the Balkan Athletics Championship, an event held on July 22-23 in Kraljevo, Serbia.
Luiza, who appeared in this event as the reigning champion of Europe, not only justified all expectations, but exceeded them.
Like no one else in the history of the Balkans, the 34-year-old Albanian managed to win 3 gold medals, two on the first day and one on the second day.
Another historic performance by Gega, who becomes the first Albanian athlete to qualify for the "Paris 2024" Olympic Games. Incredible performances from our championship, which for years has been confirmed constant in results, always being within the Olympic norm.
Luiza Gega's first medal in the Balkan Championship came on Saturday morning, in her favorite discipline of 3000 meters with obstacles.
Gega clocked a good enough time to stop the clock at 9:21.53, crossing the finish line, to put the first gold medal in the vault.
Only a few hours later would come the second gold, this time at 3000 meters. Gega clocked 9:21.48 to win again by breaking away, securing another first place finish.
But the red and black champion would not stop there, as today, on the second day of the activity (today), he would complete the triple of gold medals, a result that no other athlete in the history of this competition had achieved.
Thus, Luiza was also declared champion in the 5000 meters race, setting a time of 16:07.93, to raise the Albanian flag to the highest step of the podium in Serbia for the third time.
