"Sheikhs'" market/ FIFA publishes official report: $9.76 billion

The 2025 summer transfer window made history. Football clubs around the world spent a whopping $9.76 billion on international transfers, breaking all previous records.

This figure represents an increase of over 50% compared to the summer of 2024 and surpasses the record of 2023.

The official FIFA report shows that the English Premier League remains the absolute leader, with clubs having invested a total of 2.73 billion euros. England is followed by Germany (980 million euros), Italy (813 million) and France (625 million). Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has fallen to sixth place, after the explosion of 2023 when it was in second place.

12 thousand transfers in just two months

According to FIFA, over 12,000 international transfers have been recorded in the last two months alone, another indicator of the extraordinary activity in the player market.

FIFA also points out that the introduction of the Club World Cup in June 2025 has opened an "additional window" for the transfer market in some countries involved in the competition, especially those with higher-spending clubs.

Women's football on the rise

Although the figures are more modest, the women's soccer market has increased by 80% compared to the same period last year, reaching $12.3 million. About a third of the spending in this sector comes from American clubs.

"We are just a year away from the World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada and this is being reflected in all sectors, including women's football," said Emilio Garcia Silvero, FIFA's senior legal and compliance officer.
