Messi, the second player in football history to have five hat-tricks of assists (Video)

Lionel Messi put in a brilliant performance for Inter Miami, helping them to a 4-1 win over New England Revolution in MLS.

The Argentine managed to score three assists in the match, doing so for the fifth time in his career!

But Messi is actually the second footballer to have achieved a hat-trick of assists five times in his career.

He achieved this twice for Barcelona and PSG, and this is the first time Messi has done so with Inter Miami.

Former Ajax star Dusan Tadic is the only other player to have five assist hat-tricks in his career.

Messi managed to provide a particularly eye-catching assist in the win over New England. He easily slipped past a defender before making a perfect pass to set up a goal for Jordi Alba, much to the defender's delight. Messi has now scored 24 goals and provided 14 assists in 24 MLS games in 2025.
