AC Milan have announced a complete revolution in the club's management after a season that the board described as a failure, confirming the departure of Sporting Director Igli Tare, coach Massimiliano Allegri, CEO Giorgio Furlani and Technical Director Geoffrey Moncada.
In the official statement , Milan admitted that the main objectives of the season were not achieved, despite a long period where the team remained among the main contenders in Serie A.
" After the disappointment of last season, the mandate set by the owners for the club was clear: return to the Champions League and lay the foundations to win and remain consistently at the top of Serie A ," the club said in a statement.
According to Milan, the team had maintained a competitive position in the championship for most of the season and had a real chance of fighting for the championship title, but the results at the end of the season changed the management's assessment.
" The end of the season fell far below the level shown up to that point, and last night's disappointing defeat turned this season into an unmistakable failure ," the Italian club stated.
As a result, the leaders decided on an immediate restructuring of the sports and administrative departments.
" With immediate effect, the time at AC Milan of CEO Giorgio Furlani, Sporting Director Igli Tare, Head Coach Massimiliano Allegri and Technical Director Geoffrey Moncada is over ," the club announced.
Milan thanked the four officials for the work and dedication shown during their time at the club, while announcing the launch of a new project to return the team to the highest levels of Italian and European football.
