Runner-up with France at the 2006 World Cup in Germany and winner of the Champions League with Chelsea in 2012, Florent Malouda recently served as a soldier in the Amazon rainforest.
The 44-year-old has embraced an initiative by the French Guinean army, joining it to impart his knowledge of the field to younger generations.
Malouda joined the 3rd Forest Infantry Regiment with the aim of sharing his knowledge with young colleagues.
Involvement in segments of the military is described by the French government as a program that enables civilians (often renowned in their fields) to make a voluntary contribution to promoting the values and missions of the military institution, without being military personnel themselves.
