The Albanian captain of the Swiss national team, Granit Xhaka, is attracting attention not only with his successes in football, but now also in the world of cinema. The midfielder of Albanian origin is one of the protagonists of the short film “The Socceritos”, where he plays alongside the icon of Italian cinema, Terence Hill.
The project was produced by the Swiss company "Denner" and premiered at the "Corso" cinema in Zurich, shortly before the start of the 2026 World Cup. The film's cast also includes Swiss national team striker Zeki Amdouni, as well as Croatian model and footballer Ana Maria Marković.
Filming took place in Spain, in well-known locations where classic films of the "western" genre have also been made, giving the project a special cinematic atmosphere.
According to Swiss media, Xhaka has been considered one of the most important figures in Swiss sports for years, thanks to his leadership on the field, charismatic personality and media influence.
The 34-year-old holds the record for most appearances for the Swiss national team, with over 140 international matches. During his career, he has won trophies in Switzerland, England and Germany, while making history with Bayer Leverkusen by leading the team to its first Bundesliga title, without suffering a single defeat during the season.
After his successes in European football, Granit Xhaka seems to be exploring another dimension of his career, this time in front of the cameras, in a role that has resonated in the international sports media.
