Almost one in two Germans would boycott this year's World Cup if Donald Trump followed through on his threats to annex Greenland, according to a poll by the INSA Institute for the Bild newspaper. 47 percent of respondents would support a boycott of this year's World Cup if Donald Trump followed through on his annexation of Greenland.

The opposite view is expressed by 35% and 18% are undecided.

Recently, Christian Democratic Party politician Jürgen Hardt even mentioned the possible cancellation of the event, "as a last resort to make President Trump come to his senses on the Greenland issue."
