About a week from the start of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, all attention is being directed to Italy, where these games will be held and perhaps for the first time the red and black team, which in addition to setting a record of 4 participating skiers, 3 girls and one boy, is expected to be more than just participants.
All hopes are on the red and black skier, Lara Kolturi, who is in her second year participating in the World Cup for adults and is making very good performances, where so far she has climbed the podium 4 times with two second places and two third places.
Meanwhile, her mother, former Italian Olympic champion Daniela Ceçareli, is undoubtedly one of the most successful and beloved figures in Italy when it comes to alpine skiing.
She was chosen by the organizing committee to carry the Olympic Torch on part of its journey on Thursday morning. A moment of pride not only for her and Italy, but undoubtedly also for Albania, as Daniela has been an Albanian citizen for more than 4 years, just like her daughter, equipped with our passport.
The day began in Canazei, a mountain village in the Italian Alps, where the torch is making its official lap until it arrives in Milan. Other torchbearers included Franco Nones, the Olympic cross-country skiing champion, and gold medalists Amos Mosaner in curling, Daniela Ceçarelli in alpine skiing, Isolde Kostner, Karen Putzer, as well as Stefano Domenicali, president and CEO of Formula 1.
