Leverkusen's sporting director, Simon Rolfes, is convinced that Xabi Alonso will continue to lead the "Aspirins" at least for the coming season.
In a statement to German media, Rolfes dismissed rumors linking Alonso with Real Madrid for the new season, saying that the Spaniard will continue to stay at Leverkusen until the end of his contract.
" Xabi Alonso will stay. He told me that there is nothing true about the rumors linking him to Real. He has a contract with us and will stay until the end of it ," said Roflés.
Xabi Alonso's contract with Leverkusen expires in the summer of 2026, at the same time Ancelotti's contract with Real Madrid expires. What can be said for sure is that Alonso will continue to manage Leverkusen for the new season, then in June 2026 when his contract ends, it remains to be seen what the Spaniard will decide.
