Lechia Gdańsk centre-back Bujar Pllana is gaining more and more attention in the Polish Ekstraklasa, showing that he is also dangerous in the attacking phase. In the last match against Pogon Szczecin, he scored a beautiful goal in the 11th minute.
According to Polish media reports, Pllana is now close to making his debut with the Albanian national team and faces an important challenge against Poland in the play-offs. The match will take place on March 26 at the “PGE Narodowy” stadium in Warsaw. The winner will face the best team from the Ukraine-Sweden pair in the final.
Ahead of this match, Pllana is taking a cautious stance and refuses to pick a favorite. He emphasizes that his focus remains on personal performance.
"It's a big match, we'll see what happens. I want to do my job and perform well, although I don't know if I'll play," he declared.
The Albanian defender also explained that choosing to represent Albania was an emotional decision and linked to childhood dreams.
"It was a choice that came from the heart. I have always wanted to play for this national team. I grew up following it and I am very happy to now be part of it," said Pllana.
Commenting on the match with Poland, he emphasized that in football, results are not predictable and warned against underestimating.
"In football you never know what will happen. Even in the Ekstraklasa we see that any team can win against anyone. You can't determine a favorite in advance," he said.
Pllana also praised the progress of the Albanian national team in recent years, highlighting the participation in the European Championship and the team's continued growth.
"We have quality players and a good coach. We are improving with every match," he declared.
In the end, he admitted that Poland has a strong team with players who play in the best European leagues, but emphasized that Albania is fully focused.
"We know how important this match is. It's an opportunity to qualify for the World Cup. Such an achievement would be historic for us," concluded Pllana.
