England have underwhelmed with their performances so far at EURO 2024, but the Supercomputer continues to predict their high chances of glory after the Group C second leg.
The Three Lions were given an almost twenty percent chance of ending the country's 58-year wait to win the trophy before the tournament began. However, a disappointing 1-1 draw with Denmark has significantly reduced the fans' hopes of them winning the "Henri Delaunay" trophy. But surprisingly, the chances of Southgate's men winning the tournament have increased, albeit slightly, after the draw with the Danes. According to the "BETSIE" Supercomputer, England now have a 20.55 percent chance of winning the tournament and a 13.69 percent chance of being runners-up at the second European Championship in a row. Harry Kane and his friends have 78.4, 52.83 and 34.24 percent chances to advance to the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals, respectively.
England currently top Group C with four points and have a 99.99 percent chance of qualifying from the group. France are second favorites to win the competition, with Supercomputer reckoning Didier Deschamps' side have an 18.97 percent chance of winning the tournament. Mathematics calculates that "Les Bleus" have a 32.19 percent chance of going to next month's final. Host Germany is third with a 14.56 percent chance, while Spain, winner of 2008 and 2012, has a 13.53 percent chance of success in the Berlin final. These two national teams have respectively 26.03 and 25.84 percent chances to reach the finals.
Reigning champions Italy have only a 4.26 percent chance of defending the trophy and 10.71 percent of reaching the final. England fans will be delighted to see a computer algorithm rate their chances of winning the tournament so highly, although they will be hoping for a lot more from Southgate's players in their upcoming games.
The coach said: “ We understand that people will be disappointed with the performances and rightly so. We have to improve. At the moment we are not using the ball well enough and we have to accept that if you do, you will suffer at times, as we did. We know there is another level we need to find ." England face Slovenia in the final group game of the tournament on Tuesday evening.
