Australian driver Oscar Piastri recorded a stunning victory at the iconic Zandvoort circuit today, winning the Dutch Formula 1 Grand Prix and consolidating his lead over the championship. With a brilliant performance and perfect race management, he left his rivals, including teammate and closest rival in the standings, Lando Norris, behind.
Norris retired with ten laps to go with an engine failure, giving Piastri not only the track win but also a 34-point lead in the overall standings. It was a head-to-head battle throughout the race, with Norris never able to overtake the Australian and eventually raising the white flag.
Max Verstappen, despite being on his favourite track and in front of ardent Dutch fans, was unable to challenge the McLaren cars. He finished second in his Red Bull, although the safety car entered the track three times and created strategic spaces for attack.
The big surprise was Isak Hadjar with RB, who climbed onto the podium for the first time by taking third place, an extraordinary achievement for the young pilot, who with this result opens the door for himself to more guarantees in future races.
Another race to forget for Ferrari. Lewis Hamilton lost control and went off the track in the first half of the race. Charles Leclerc, on the other hand, collided with Kimi Antonelli in an incident that brought an early end to the race for both. Antonelli was given a 15-second penalty and as a result, despite finishing sixth on the track, remained out of the points.
After the podium, George Russell finished in fourth place with Mercedes, followed by Alexander Albon, Oliver Bearman, Lance Stroll, Fernando Alonso, Yuki Tsunoda and Esteban Ocon.
This race marks an important turning point in the 2025 Formula 1 season, where Piastri not only proves that he is a serious contender for the title, but also puts maximum pressure on other rivals, while McLaren confirms that it has the cars for a world champion.
