The fever of the capital derby between Partizan and Tirana has been going on for days, even though the match will be played on Sunday. “Arena e Demave” is hosting the capital derby for the first time since its creation. In an interview for “News24”, former Tirana captain Gentian Muça spoke about this important match.
"Gent, are you going to the stadium, have you secured a ticket? Do you think it's right for this challenge to be played at the "Bulls' Arena"?"
The derby matches were undoubtedly the ones we were looking forward to and there was great interest from sports fans, not only the respective fans. But in a stadium with 4 thousand people it will undoubtedly be very difficult to secure a ticket. Especially since we are in a phase of the championship where it is a very important match for both teams for the objectives they have. This could have been easily avoided because there have been many words and rumors about security in that stadium, taking into account the problems of both fans, as much as they give it beauty, but there may also be problems between them.
We would not want this match to be spoiled by something like this, as has been done with other matches, in the absence of the “National Arena”, a solution has been found in the “Elbasan Arena”. Everything has gone well, I do not know the real reason for this decision to play in the “Bulls Arena”. But I think that a tactical choice has been made by the red team that for the first time it will fall down, or more precisely, the field factor will be used in this case. If previously in the “National Arena” or “Selman Stërmasi” they have been equal, this will be the first time for the Tirana team to play on the field of the Partizan team.
Are you concerned about the Muça table, is the difference between the two teams really that big?
For the sake of truth, if we were to compare the championship, yes, there were differences in the games, in the ups and downs, mostly in Tirana. But if we were to compare the two matches, the first with Shkëmbi and the second with Magani, luckily the Partizan team did not lose. It played matches below its level. Tirana, if it had had the right calm, could have come out with full points from those matches.
Does this derby decide the fate of Tirana, can this meeting affect the rest of the season?
It would undoubtedly have a very big negative impact if they lost. I'm not saying that a draw doesn't help, but a victory gives them another boost and enthusiasm and would be the third positive result for coach Shkëmbi. It would certainly get them out of a psychological rut that has been caused by their situation in the classification table.
Nine games without a win in the derby, could this be the moment to come back, do you believe in this team?
If we were to take it this way, adding the psychological aspect of 9 games without a win, it would undoubtedly be difficult and there would be a few optimistic notes. But looking at the comparison once again how they faced each other, I see the Tirana team as more advantageous. But as I said, aggressiveness is very important for this team because I have said that it spends a lot of effort to score those goals and then concedes them very easily. Such a thing cannot happen, especially in a derby match.
Can you give me a prediction?
0-1 would be enough for the blue and white team to be happy.
In anticipation of the derby and to understand more about the fate of Tirana, who do you see as the favorite team to win the title this season? Which team is the most complete in your opinion?
I think the main favorite is Egnatia. In addition to maintaining its core, it has been strengthened, it has made transfers. But I am not happy about the fact that the four teams have separated and have decided on the "Final Four", they have somewhat weakened the fight with the rest. I see Egnatia as having the advantage, then comes Dinamo. Vllaznia is true that it is within the four, but it has had ups and downs, without the champion's stuff. I do not see Partizan as less of a favorite, but it has played weaker matches than the other three teams," said the former captain of the white and blues.
