The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has sent an official invitation to the Albanian National Olympic Committee to participate in the XXV Olympic Winter Games, to be held in Milano Cortina, Italy from February 6 to 22, 2026.
This invitation is signed by IOC President Thomas Bach. Albania is expected to compete with the talented Lara Colturi at Milano Cortina 2026, aiming for the first Olympic medal in winter sports.
The 18-year-old skier is the talent that is standing out with the red and black flag, having twice placed second in the ongoing World Ski Championships. The Italo-Albanian has also sparked interest in Italy, where many are demanding that she compete for her country of birth, but the fact is that Colturi has already received an invitation from the IOC and will represent Albania at the 2026 Winter Olympics, where she also aims for an Olympic medal in skiing, which would be the first for our country.
