The account is part of an article by journalist Piotr Volosik, in the newspaper 'Weszlo', where he details what happened that night, after a match that ended 0-0, in which the striker himself had missed a penalty.
"I heard a rumor. Or maybe it's not a rumor... At the World Cup in Qatar, the day after the match with Mexico, Robert Lewandowski invited his colleagues for dinner at the Nusret restaurant.
His advisory team said the skipper was trying to create a team atmosphere. After all, he was inviting his colleagues to eat steaks from the famous Salt Bae. Photos appeared, the atmosphere was fantastic, the narrative circulated around the world and finally, the bill went to Polish football… the Federation. It's a bit classic, isn't it ?", wrote the journalist.
The information quickly came to the attention of Tomas Zavislak, businessman and friend of Robert Levandowski, who responded accordingly.
" I also heard a rumour, or maybe not, that the Polish Football Association is spreading nonsense about Robert on the eve of an important qualifier against Albania.
What a coincidence! As is usually the case with these rumours, there is little truth to it. The facts are that Robert paid for the dinner and never expected a refund from the Federation. To assume that Robert has sent the bill to PZPN is a lie ," he told 'Matchyki'.
