In 2007, interviewed by La7, Silvio Berlusconi had predicted everything: from the difficulties of Italian football to the dominance of the Premier League, to the arrival of the Arabs. Here are the words of the former president of Milan, who passed away a short time ago after a battle with the serious disease of leukemia:

" I see that Serie A is getting poorer and poorer. We are leaders now, but in 17 years we will be a supermarket for others...

The Premier League will be number one. Serie A and all other championships are behind, we have no funds. Then, the Arabs will come to football and Italy will no longer have any liking for others: there is no infrastructure, no stadiums, we are already 30 years behind.

Did you know that the Arabs are building entire cities in the desert? There is so much economic power in those areas! Of course they won't stop! They will probably enter football, because it is the biggest business and gives great visibility.

And what do we offer? If the government does not intervene, we will be the third League. In England they are encouraging young people to play football and the government is giving funding to football schools. They do it in Germany too.

Italy, on the other hand, is sitting back, almost as if we expected all this to continue right! People think I'm crazy when I talk about these things, but I look to the future and I'm honest with you. I see a very sad future for Italian football ."
