He has been playing football since the age of 12 and has managed to overcome every prejudice in the city of Fier. From 'that girl who plays football', today Marinela is a football player and the undisputed starter of the Apolonia team, while she is also part of the national girls' A team. She sees football as a second school that has helped her a lot in some aspects, as she sees herself as more mature than her peers.
In an interview for the 'Albanian talent' column for fshf.org, Mema says that it was her father who supported her in her first steps in football, while she says that she feels appreciated that she is part of the national team And that he works every day to be part of coach Armir Grima's undisputed list. -What made you get involved in the world of football? How old were you when you started playing?
- Football has been my passion since childhood. In fact, it still remains my greatest passion. I was only 12 years old when I became part of the Apolonia team, where I still play to this day.
-Tell us a little about your steps in your career, where did you start and how did everything go?
- Great footballers are born in the alleys of neighborhoods. I also hope to become a great soccer player, because like the stars, I first started playing in the neighborhood with my peers and brothers. Then, as I mentioned, at the age of 12 I became part of the Apolonia girls' team and that's where my dream started to come true. Apolonia is my first team and I hope to win everything one day with this team.
- It is not easy for girls to play football, how was it for you? Who has supported you the most?
- It was very difficult. Of course, there were also prejudices. A girl who plays soccer? It seemed pointless to people, because a large part of them think that this type of sport should only be played by boys. I am glad that now the mentality has changed and I feel good when I also see fans on the steps of our stadiums supporting us. Who supported me? My family, of course, and especially my father, has been and is my number 1 supporter. He always follows me, even when I play with Apolonia, but also with the national team.
- Do you have any idol, footballer or footballer who motivates you?
- Of course I have an idol. He is the Croatian footballer and midfielder of Real Madrid, Luka Modric. I really like the versatility in him, the intelligent passing and the level that the player has shown over the years and continues to show, despite his age.
-Sa ka ndikuar futbolli te ju, në çdo aspekt të jetës? Ju kanë parë ndryshe apo diçka tjetër?
– Në fillimet e mia shihesha shumë ndryshe. Më etiketonin si ‘ajo vajza që luan futboll’. Në të njëjtën kohë ndihesha e paragjykuar, por nga ana tjetër kisha edhe shumë vlerësime nga njerëz të ndryshëm. Më vlerësonin për atë që unë bëja, që luaja futboll. Përveçse nga ana profesionale, futbolli më ka ndihmuar të rritem edhe shumë si njeri. Vetë futbolli është një shkollë. Edhe pse jam ende e vogël në moshë, ndihem më e pjekur. E shoh çdo gjë në jetë si një sfidë për t’u fituar, ashtu sikurse ndeshjet e futbollit. Kam njohur shumë shoqe e shokë të rinj nga ky sport dhe mund të them që miqësinë time të ngushtë e kam pikërisht nga futbolli.
-Kohët e fundit futbolli i vajzave po merr mbështetje nga FIFA, UEFA dhe FSHF. Si e shikoni këtë?
– Hap shumë pozitiv. Mbështetja është e dukshme, pasi futbolli i vajzave po rritet dita-ditës. Sigurisht që ndikojnë edhe iniciativat financiare dhe materiale. Për shembull, shoh shumë vajza të reja që nxitojnë të bëhen pjesë e këtij sporti. Ne e kishim më të vështirë të luanim hapur futboll dhe të ishim pjesë e ndonjë skuadre. Tani janë krijuar ekipe moshash, futbolli luhet që në kopësht me projektin ‘PlayMaker’ dhe më pas edhe në shkollat 9-vjeçare. Uroj që të bëhemi sa më shumë vajza në këtë sport kaq të bukur.
-Ju jeni pjesë e kombëtares shqiptare. Çfarë domethënie ka për ju? Çfarë emocionesh ju jep të luani për Shqipërinë?
– Ku ka kënaqësi më të madhe se të luash për fanelën e Shqipërisë. Unë jam shumë e lumtur që jam pjesë e ekipit kombëtar dhe duket se e gjithë puna ime dhe i gjithë përkushtimi im, duke lënë pas edhe ato ‘qejfet’ e moshës janë vlerësuar, duke m’u dhënë mundësia të luaj për Shqipërinë.
– Si e more ftesën për të përfaqësuar Shqipërinë? Si e mban mend herën e parë te Kombëtarja? Çfarë ju ka bërë më shumë përshtypje atëherë? Në mos gaboj, jeni grumbulluar për herë të parë nga trajneri Grima në një grumbullim në Mal të Zi...
– Unë jam prej disa vitesh pjesë e ekipeve të moshave të Shqipërisë U-17 dhe U-19. Pra, i kam kaluar disa faza, duke qenë pjesë edhe në formacionet titullare falë besimit të trajnerëve. Por, ftesa nga ekipi A është shumë më e veçantë se ftesa që vjen nga ekipet e moshave. Jam thirrur për herë të parë në Mal të Zi nga trajneri Armir Grima, në një grumbullim rutinë të ekipit kombëtar A. Kam kaluar shumë mirë, jam mirëpritur nga të gjitha vajzat e skuadrës dhe e kam parë si një sfidë për mua, për të qenë pa diskutim pjesë e listës së Kombëtares në çdo grumbullim e ndeshje.
-Çfarë mesazhi i jep vajzave që u thuhet se futbolli është vetëm për djem?
- Don't stop dreaming. Soccer is also for girls. It doesn't matter what other people think. I am without a doubt convinced that with the support of the family, they will succeed in realizing the most beautiful dream: to play football!
