That Luiza Gega is always among the first, or the first in almost every international athletic event, this does not seem to be news anymore. However, the last two competitions in Krakow, Poland, with the first place in the 5,000 m and 3,000 m hurdles took the Albanian athlete to a very high European level, 11 victories, a record achieved by her, which makes her talk already in the biggest arena of European athletics. In an interview for "Top Channel" she shows that all these achievements, in addition to satisfaction, are often also an added pressure.
" I felt a lot of pressure, I wanted to be safe there, because the focus and attention is now greater on my performance. The most recent activity really gave me a lot of satisfaction, because leaving the European federation is not easy. But I'm waiting for the next activities to do even better, as I think I haven't reached the maximum ".
For more than 20 years, only running, and at very high levels, not just walking, Luiza is never satisfied with herself.
" I will fight hard to get a bigger medal, as I got it. I can't make promises, because sport doesn't allow this, since you never know how it might go. But I hope very much to be healthy, to have no injuries because my focus and will are not lacking. At least until the Olympics it will be above 100%, then I will see what I can do ."
For more than a decade, Luiza and Taulant Stërmasi, today the president of the FSHA, have worked together for these results, but upon assuming the new position about a month ago, Luiza trains alone and apparently will not there is not even a foreign coach.
" I don't have that much of a problem now, as I know where I have to go. We once thought of getting an international coach, but the program is going very well for me and I don't want to risk, let's say, to continue with another program, because each coach has his own program, I don't even know how I will how the body reacts to another program, or how long it will take me to adapt to the new program. At least this year I don't want to risk it .
When I mention athletics, everyone thinks of Luiza, how does she feel about this well-deserved eclipse of the 'queen' of sports in Albania?
" This is the reason I am very happy, that my former coach is now president and will raise the level of athletics. I really want to break my records in the future. If even higher results are achieved, I would be happy, I don't have this part of jealousy, or to ask for attention, I don't want attention, I just do something I love very passionately" .
