A surprise move in North Macedonia, the president of the Macedonian Football Federation, Muhamed Sejdini, has resigned today after the match with the Faroe Islands, where his representative team won 1-0.
Sejdini was in charge of FFM for 7 years, while under his leadership, North Macedonia achieved a historic success by going to the European Championship.
Through a post on "Facebook", the Albanian has announced that he will be in charge until December 22, when the Extraordinary Assembly will be held to elect the new president.
North Macedonia also won against the Faroe Islands tonight, making it five wins from five games in League C of the Nations League.
Muhamed Sejdin's status:
"After 7 extraordinary years filled with historic achievements, I have decided to retire from the position of President of the Macedonian Football Federation. This decision comes as a result of my reflection on an appropriate moment of change, after a period that will remain as the most successful in the history of our football.
Under my leadership, together with you, we have written golden chapters for Macedonian football: the historic qualification for the European Championship EURO 2020, the second ranking in the qualifying group for the World Cup and the unforgettable victory against Italy in Palermo, the successes of the League Nations with the transition to League B and the realization of numerous infrastructural projects in cooperation with UEFA and FIFA.
I leave this position with great pride and thanks to all those who contributed to these achievements: players, coaches, clubs, investors, administration, Executive Committee (Managing Board) and every football lover.
I will continue to exercise my role until December 22, when an Extraordinary Assembly will elect my successor.
With full confidence in the future of the Federation and our football, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the support and cooperation over the years", reads Sejdin's full announcement.
