On the eve of the match against Lithuania in the League of Nations, the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, visited the representative of Kosovo, giving his support to the football players, the staff and the Football Federation of Kosovo.
This visit of the head of the Government, together with the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hajrulla Çeku and the Minister of Health, Arben Vitija, comes as a gesture of solidarity and gratitude for Kosovo's principled stance in the match against Romania, where the footballers and the Federation refused to continue the game after racist and anti-Kosovo chants.
The president of FFK, Agim Ademi, thanked Kurt for his visit and support, stressing the importance of institutional support for the Kosovo National Team.
During his speech, Prime Minister Kurti appreciated the attitude of the players and the Federation as principled, fair and useful for the country and football.
" It is a pleasure and an honor to meet together today. First I must congratulate you on the excellent game you played in Bucharest, where you dominated on the green field, and at the same time express our full solidarity with the attitude you took there. It is a principled, fair and useful attitude, both for Kosovo, and for football, and for every citizen of our country, who felt represented by the statement and attitude of captain Amir Rrahmani, for which I congratulate and thank you from the heart
"It is not the first time that such a situation is happening to us. Chauvinist calls against Kosovo and Albanians, racist calls against our players and our people have also happened in the past.
Only now the cup is full. And there is no place in the cup for more such denigrating attacks which are unacceptable in the civilized world. When this happens in a country that has not yet recognized us, everything becomes even more difficult", added the Prime Minister.
As the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, with the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, we will do everything to continue this battle in the international political and diplomatic arena, but also in the legal and legal aspect, so that UEFA and FIFA punish those who deserve it," Albin Kurti underlined.
At the end of his speech, Prime Minister Kurti quoted captain Amir Rrahmani's statement after the match:
"I want to appeal to UEFA and FIFA not to allow these things. Kosovo has had a difficult past, war, massacres and everything, it was not easy to get here, so we deserve respect. Everyone should know that Kosovo is Kosovo, or Kosovo is Albania, That's it, it ends here.
With this attitude, our captain Amir Rrahmani has shown that our common ship is state, national and sports, and is not commercial or revisionist as some other capitals of authoritarian countries want, especially our enemy and aggressive neighbor in the north of the country ours.
I don't know how to play soccer very well, e.g. The President of the Assembly plays much better than me, but otherwise, regarding this attitude, we had a round with Amir Rrahman.
He could be prime minister with this attitude, but unfortunately I cannot replace him in football matches. Once again I tell you that there is not even the slightest dilemma about the justice of your attitude and decision, which I am reemphasizing, you have our full, unsparing and unreserved support ", Kurti quoted.
